Poker Resources

After being asked “What do you recommend for…?” a few million times, I’ve finally decided to add a resources page to my site for anyone who has questions about books, software, coaching, or any other poker resources.

Places for US players to play online -

The Cake Network – This is a large network of smaller sites. Games on Cake tend to play more like live games, because there is no tracking software allowed and all the ultra-tight 12 table grinders stay away. You must be able to watch your opponents, concentrate on a few tables, and take notes to beat these games. If you can do that, you will find that the players are much softer, the action much better, and the profits can be great. I recommend playing through the Poker Pros Network, where I am a pro myself. Click HERE to register an account and then HERE to download the software and I’ll see you at the tables.

The Merge Network – The Merge network, which includes sites like Carbon Pokier and Lock Poker is the largest US facing site at the time of this writing, and traffic is growing fast. Tracking software is allowed, and the software is slick. Lock Poker currently offers the largest bonus and the highest rakeback percentage, so that’s where I play when I’m on Merge. Here’s a link for the max bonus and rakeback percentage – Lock Poker Download

Most of the other online poker sites that allow US players are not big enough or safe enough to bother with.

Software for online poker -

I use PokerTracker 3 and Holdem Manager and both are fine programs. Pick whichever one you like the looks of and buy it. Without tracking software you are dead in the water on most sites because your opponents have a huge advantage in the amount of information available to them. If you aren’t using this software, expect to lose (unless you are playing on the Cake Network as described above.

I really like Ace Poker Drills as well, it’s a great trainer for understanding equity in holdem. I have started many of my students using it with great success.

For other resources (until I finish this page) try the resources page at ProPoker Seminars.com which I put together as well.
